A Special Meeting of the Frankfort Community Unit School District #168 Board of Education will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, in the Library at Central Junior High School, located at 1600 East Ninth Street in West Frankfort, Illinois.
The purpose of the Special Meeting is to consider renewal of a membership, a proposed public school calendar for 2026-2027, an update regarding a facility issue, and personnel items.

At their most recent meeting on March 16, the Board of Education approved the framework of employee positions of the District for the 2026-2027 School Year by the merging, eliminating, and posting of certain positions. After the process of bidding open positions and bumping by performance and seniority by affected employees, in addition to retirements and resignations already received, the Board will be working through the final step of the process by considering the elimination or reduction of 2.5 teaching positions, 6 para-professional teachers’ aide positions, and two non-certified support staff members. Teachers and aides in licensed positions do retain “call back” rights if the District is able to recover some revenue income through local, state, and federal sources. Notice of reduction of licensed positions must occur by law at this time of the year before school districts know their final revenue amounts for the following school year.
